About NovaContext
Julie on Colorado's beautiful mountain bike trails.

Welcome.

NovaContext was born from a simple realization: there is still so much life left to explore.

For most of my adult life, I have been a cyclist. I have spent decades riding Colorado’s roads, gravel routes, and mountain bike trails. Along the way, I raced, trained, chased goals, and discovered what I was capable of physically and mentally.

Then something shifted.

I found myself feeling called toward a different kind of adventure. One less focused on performance and more focused on experience. One that invited curiosity instead of competition. One that encouraged me to slow down, look around, and fully immerse myself in the places I was moving through.

That calling led me to bikepacking.

But as I quickly discovered, this journey isn’t really about bicycles.

It’s about adventure.

It’s about waking up to birdsong in a tent. Watching deer move silently through camp. Finding a moose standing beside a mountain lake. Exploring small Colorado mountain towns. Learning new skills. Making mistakes. Trusting myself. Adapting when plans fall apart. And discovering that some of the best moments happen when life doesn’t go according to plan.

At 59, I am still learning, growing, exploring, and saying yes to new experiences. In many ways, NovaContext is a journal of that journey.

Here you’ll find stories from the trail, reflections from camp, wildlife encounters, lessons learned through adventure, and thoughts on what it means to live fully at every age.

You’ll also find a deep appreciation for nature.

The wind moving through the trees.
The changing seasons.
Mountain lakes.
Wildflowers.
Birdsong.
Sunrises.
The quiet wisdom that seems to reveal itself when we spend enough time outdoors.

The name NovaContext reflects the idea that when we change our perspective, we change what becomes possible. Sometimes growth doesn’t require becoming someone new. Sometimes it simply requires seeing ourselves, our lives, and the world around us through a different lens - a more authentic, genuine one.

My hope is that these stories inspire you to follow your own curiosity, trust yourself a little more, and perhaps say yes to an adventure you’ve been quietly considering.

Whether you’re here because you love bikepacking, nature, wildlife, personal growth, Colorado, or simply the idea of living with greater presence and wonder, I’m glad you’re here.

Come along for the adventure.
