Resources

When I first started bikepacking, I was looking for trusted information: places that could help me learn, build confidence, and avoid some of the mistakes that come with starting something completely new.

These are the resources that have genuinely helped me along the way. I’ve used every one of them personally and continue to return to many of them today.

Websites

BikePacking.com

The resource that gave me the confidence to begin. From route planning and gear reviews to inspiring stories and stunning photography, BikePacking.com helped me move from “Where do I start?” to “I think I can actually do this.” Whether you’re planning your first overnighter or dreaming about a multi-day adventure, it’s a resource I continue to return to.

Bikepacking Roots

More than an organization, Bikepacking Roots is an educational community dedicated to helping people experience bikepacking responsibly. Their recorded webinar series became one of my favorite learning resources, covering everything from setting realistic goals and planning routes to nutrition, bike maintenance, and trailside repairs. They also publish an excellent Bikepacking 101 Handbook, making this a valuable resource for both new and experienced bikepackers

Ride with GPS

The planning and navigation tool I use for nearly every ride. From creating routes and navigating unfamiliar trails to sharing rides with others, Ride with GPS has become an essential part of my bikepacking workflow. It’s also taught me a few important lessons about navigation, preparation, and always having a backup plan.
